The Jackal and the Monkey

A monkey once made itself a throne of mud, a necklace of conch shells and sat down by the river-side. He didn't let animals who came there drink any water, till theysaid these words:

"Sone Ka Sinhasan, kaisa sundar bana hai,
Gale main pehne heera moti Raja ek baitha hai"

"There is a golden throne, which is so beautifully made
Wearing a necklace of diamond and pearls, a King sits and bade"

This pleased the monkey, and he felt very important.

One day a jackal, came to the river, but when the monkey asked it to sing the praise,
it said: "I am very thirsty son, let me drink some water first. I am dying of thirst"
so he let it drink, and the monkey waited impatiently for it to finish, and finally
the jackal said:

"Keechar ke beech ka ek khamba, kaisa bura gada hai
beech taal main baith bandarwa, seep ki maala pehna hai"

"In the middle of mud, a pillar is dug out very badly
A monkey sits on top of it, wearing a necklace of shells sadly"

This made the monkey wild with anger, so he ran after the jackal to kill it, and
caught its tail in his teeth,
" Hoo hoo," said the monkey.
" Don't say Hoo, say Ha," called the jackal,
So the monkey said " Ha ! " and as soon as he opened his mouth the jackal escaped.
