Tale Bearers: Papa, Aaji
During harvesting season, the birds get a lot of grains to eat, there was one such sparrow who was eating grain behind a cow when the cow dropped dung on her and she got stuck. She wriggled and struggled but she couldn't get out, so she scraped off the dung with her beak and peaked through it. The day had passed and it was dusk, when everybody makes their way home. In some time she saw there was a tiger passing by. On seeing him the sparrow called out as loudly as she could-
"Baghau Baba ho, mat batiyan batiyan jao, chidiya dhundh ke na khao?"
“Tiger Grandy , don't make way to your home, isn't it better to first find a bird and eat it?”
The tiger didn't hear the small voice, again she called -
"Baghau Baba ho, mat batiyan batiyan jao, chidiya dhundh ke na khao?"
“O Tiger Grandy , don't make way to your home, isn't it better to find a bird and eat it?”
This time the tiger heard her, and looked around to see where the voice was coming from, he saw the cow dung from where the voice came so he went and retrieved the bird, and prepared to eat it. The bird called -
"Baghau Baba ho, sadi gali mat khao, dho ke na khao?"
"O Tiger Grandy, don't eat something so smelly, isn't it better to wash and eat it?"
The tiger thought thats definitely a good suggestion, then he took the bird to the stream and washed it there. Then as he prepared to eat, the bird said -
"Baghau Baba ho, geeli seeli mat khao, kurukuru kar ke na khao?"
"O Tiger Grandy, don't eat something so wet, isn't it better to dry and eat it crunchy?"
The tiger thought crunchy-munchy is better thats so true! and he took her to dry near a fire. As as soon as her wings were dried, off flew the bird away she went and sat on a branch, and the surprised tiger stared at her from below. Then the bird called out -
"Baghau Baba ho, tukur tukur mat dekho, ab batiyan batiyan jao"
"O Tiger Grandy, no use now stare at me from afar, go now make your way home"
